Vijay Mallya's son Siddharth Mallya, speaking about his father's lavish parties, said in a documentary, "He was one of the first people in India who wasn't afraid of spending his money, who wasn't afraid to be flamboyant". "He was unapologetic (about it)," he added. He also revealed that his father timed Kingfisher Airlines' launch to coincide with Sid's 18th birthday.
