Health insurance new rule: Coverage mandated during grace period

IRDAI has mandated insurance companies to provide coverage during the grace period, even if the premium hasn’t been paid yet. Also, it has fixed the grace period of 15 days for policies with monthly instalments and 30 days for all other policies. Previously, some insurance companies rejected claims received during the grace period, citing non-payment of premiums as a reason.
