Heart made out of titanium keeps US man alive for days in a world first

A man in the US has become the world's first person to receive an artificial heart made out of titanium. The BiVACOR TAH uses maglev (magnetic levitation), the technology used in high-speed rail systems. It was implanted into a patient suffering from end-stage heart failure and functioned effectively for eight days until a donor heart became available for the patient.
