Heavy rain in NE India from May 26, red alert for Assam, Meghalaya: IMD

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in parts of northeast Indian states from May 26 to May 30. "Red-colour coded warning has been issued to Assam and Meghalaya for next three days," PTI quoted IMD DG Mrutyunjay Mohapatra as saying. IMD also predicted heavy rainfall in adjoining areas of east India in next 48 hours.
