Heavy rain to lash Maharashtra's coastal belt as IMD issues red alert

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday has issued a red alert for Maharashtra's entire coastal belt as monsoon activity intensifies. Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg are likely to receive extremely heavy rainfall. IMD also warned of thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds in parts of South Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada over the coming days.
