Herbert Diess to replace Matthias Mueller as Volkswagen CEO

German automaker Volkswagen on Thursday named VW brand head Herbert Diess as its new CEO as part of a major management reshuffle. He will replace Matthias Mueller, who was appointed in 2015 at the height of the diesel emissions scandal. Originally contracted to serve until 2020, Mueller was stepping down "by mutual agreement, effective immediately," Volkswagen said.
