Himachal Pradesh will establish its first dedicated women's jail in Mandi, converting the existing district jail premises. Approved by the state Cabinet on May 5, the facility will follow NHRC and MHA guidelines. It will include separate barracks for undertrials, convicts, and mothers with children, plus a crèche, mini-hospital, counselling services, and vocational training.
