Himalayan region of J&K warmed by 1°C in just 20 years, finds IIT study
A new study by IIT Kharagpur researchers shows temperature in Himalayan region of J&K has risen by almost 1°C in last 20 years. They discovered a phenomenon called Elevation-Dependent Warming, which explains why temperature climbs more rapidly on mountain than on lower level nearby. Highest rise in temperature could be seen at popular hill sites like Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Bhaderwah.
