Hong Kong bans transit flights from 150 countries due to COVID-19

Hong Kong will suspend transit flights from around 150 countries and territories considered high risk because of the coronavirus from January 16. The city is currently battling a small outbreak of the Omicron COVID-19 variant that began after two airline crew members breached home quarantine rules. The transit flight ban is needed to control the Omicron variant's spread, authorities said.
