Hong Kong to invalidate old identity cards by 2025 in phases

Hong Kong will phase out ID cards issued before November 26, 2018, by 2025. Cards for those born in 1970 or after will be invalid on May 12, 2025, and for those born in 1969 or earlier, on October 12, 2025. Residents must apply for new cards at designated offices. Non-compliance may result in fines up to HKD 5,000.
