Hospital rooms cost more than 5-star hotels: Swati Maliwal in RS

Delhi Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal's speech on expensive healthcare went viral. "Inside private hospitals, beds are categorised as deluxe, premium, suite...the room rates are higher than those of five-star hotels," she said, adding that it pushes families into debt. She urged mandatory adoption of the Clinical Establishments Act and legal enforcement of the "treatment first, bill later" principle.
