Hotel rooms costing ₹2,500-₹7,500 to be taxed 18% under GST

Hotel rooms costing between ₹2,500 to ₹7,500 per night will be taxed at 18% while those above ₹7,500 will attract levy of 28% under GST, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said on Sunday. GST on restaurants in these hotels will be at par with other air-conditioned restaurants, that is 18%, he added. The countrywide GST rollout is scheduled for July 1.
