A study by researchers at Georgetown University and the University of Washington found that misleading AI summaries can distort human memory. Across various prompts and models, AI summaries omitted 51.6% of critical information on average. When people read a misleading AI summary 24-48 hours after witnessing an event, it affected their ability to accurately recall what they had seen.
