Pranksters are turning off e-rickshaws in the middle of traffic using Chinese BAT-BMS app, designed to monitor Bluetooth-enabled lithium batteries. Most Indian e-rickshaws use low-cost lithium battery packs which come with poorly protected Bluetooth-enabled BMS. Anyone within Bluetooth range can connect to the unsecured battery and disable its discharge function, cutting off the motor's power.
