How did ₹35 crore 'vanish' from savings accounts and FDs of PNB customers?

Several PNB customers in Greater Noida have alleged that ₹35 crore went missing from their savings accounts and FDs. They claimed bank employees disabled SMS alerts before disputed transactions. Customers alleged they were repeatedly told an audit was underway when seeking account records. They began checking balances after the bank reportedly sought 4-5 days' notice for withdrawals above ₹1 lakh.
