At least 1,741 errors were found in Odisha's textbooks for Classes 1-8 because the same people acted as writers, proofreaders, reviewers and final subject experts. The language, facts and images were not checked properly, and the timeline for textbook preparation and printing was "unrealistic or excessively compressed". Around ₹175 crore was spent on printing and publication of these books.
