How did 17 prisoners pull off a jailbreak in Tamil Nadu?

Seventeen convicts serving various sentences escaped from a district jail in Tamil Nadu's Theni. One of the inmates had pretended to suffer a seizure at night on Monday, prompting prison personnel to open their cell to assist them. The inmates then launched an attack on the policemen before fleeing the premises. Three prison personnel were injured in the incident.
