Solar energy contributed 57 GW of electricity and helped avoid a shortage when India's power demand surged to an all-time high of 256.11 GW on April 25. Solar energy accounted for 21% of the total electricity supply during the peak demand, while thermal energy contributed 66%. The power ministry has projected peak power demand of 270 GW for this summer.
