How did total no. of constituencies come to 544 during EC's poll date announcement?
While announcing schedule for 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the Election Commission of India shared an all-phase map, which showed total number of constituencies as 544 instead of 543. On being asked about it by a journalist, who pointed it out, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar said, "It is because elections will take place twice in one constituency in Manipur."
