How does labour force participation vary across gender and age?

In 2022-23, 58.3 percent of Indians aged 15-59 years were part of its labour force. But this share was not uniformly distributed across the entire age group. For men, labour force participation is near universal after 25 years of age, while for women, the likelihood of being in the labour force is the highest in the 40-44 years age bracket.
