How droughts are reshaping India’s lakes

Surface water bodies support the hydrological cycle by acting as buffers, regulating surface runoff, and storing and distributing water. However, extreme droughts are reshaping these waterscapes in India. Small lakes are drying up fastest, large reservoirs are losing volume and mountain glaciers are melting very fast.
