Chhath Puja is associated with the Mahabharata as Draupadi, wife of the Pandavas, performed the ritual in Ranchi's Nagdi village on Sage Dhaumya's advice, which is believed to have helped Pandavas defeat the Kauravas. Another account states that Karna, son of Surya and Kunti, observed rituals and worshipped the Sun God, signifying the deity's significance in the epic.
