President is elected through an electoral college system in which elected MPs and MLAs from states/UTs cast votes. While the value of votes of every MP is fixed, value of MLAs' votes differ based on their states' population. The votes are given on ballot paper in order of preferences for the candidates, least-voted of whom get eliminated one by one.
