How many illegal migrants has US sent back to India since 2009?

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Thursday said the process of deportation of illegal migrants by US is "not new", adding that nearly 16,000 Indians have been deported since 2009. In 2019 and 2020, 2,042 deportees and 1,889 deportees were sent back respectively, he said. In 2023, 617 people were deported while in 2024, 1,368 were sent back.
