How many times have reigning champions won a FIFA WC final?

Argentina are set to play their second consecutive FIFA World Cup final. This is the sixth time a reigning champion has reached the FIFA World Cup final. The first two teams to do so won the final (Italy in 1938 and Brazil in 1962), but the last three all lost (Argentina in 1990, Brazil in 1998 and France in 2022).
