Maria Corina Machado escaped Venezuela after three tense days in disguise, dodging checkpoints before being smuggled from Caracas to a coastal village. She travelled by fishing boat to Curaçao and then flew to Oslo. With reported US support during the escape, the Nobel laureate vowed to return to Venezuela, despite facing charges back home.
