How much compensation can passengers get after a train accident?

Indian Railways will extend travel insurance to passengers buying tickets at counters from October 27, 2026. The cover provides up to ₹10 lakh for accidental death or permanent total disability, ₹7.5 lakh for permanent partial disability and ₹2 lakh for hospitalisation expenses. Families can also claim ₹10,000 towards transporting mortal remains, subject to policy terms.
