India’s estimated cost of placing one kg of payload into low Earth orbit stood at $13,302 in 2025, according to a peer-reviewed study published in Economics Letters. It is followed by Europe ($9,897), Russia ($6,682), China ($5,809), Japan ($5,287), and the US, where it costs $3,225/kg. The study analysed over 6,740 rocket launches between 1960 and 2025.
