How to avoid Acute Mountain Sickness if you travel to Leh
Recently IIT Kanpur Prof Kanwar Singh Nalwa suffered a cardiac arrest while trekking in Leh, and died soon after developing breathing problems. In high regions, especially Ladakh, there is a real concern of acute mountain sickness (AMS), which has, in extremes, caused deaths. To avoid it, experts say you need to acclimatise, stay hydrated and main a stable physical condition.
