How to detect artificial colour in turmeric powder?

A common quick test can be conducted at home for detecting artificial colour in turmeric powder. To detect artificial colour, add a teaspoon of turmeric powder in a glass of water. Natural turmeric powder will leave light yellow colour while settling down in the glass. Adulterated turmeric powder will leave a strong yellow colour in water while settling down.
