How to refile ITR before Aug 31 deadline after filing wrong form?

Taxpayers can correct a wrongly filed ITR before the August 31 deadline. If the return is unverified, they can discard it on the Income Tax e-Filing Portal and submit a fresh return using the correct form. Once verified, another original return cannot be filed. Instead, taxpayers must submit a revised return under Section 139(5) of the Income Tax Act.
