How will cigarettes be affected by Karnataka's one year tobacco ban?

Karnataka government's decision to ban the manufacture, storage, distribution and sale of items containing tobacco or nicotine does not cover cigarettes. Issued under food-safety regulations, the order applies to gutkha and pan masala as they are treated as food products under the food-safety framework. Cigarettes and other smoking tobacco products are regulated separately under COTPA.
