How will Trump's 100% pharma tariff hit India's generic business?
US President Donald Trump announced 100% tariffs on branded medicines. For India, the impact is expected to be limited, as about 90% of its pharmaceutical exports to US are generic medicines, which are currently exempt from tariffs. In FY25, pharmaceutical exports to US rose 20% to about $10.5 billion. However, US government said it will re-evaluate tariffs on generics.
