Hubballi woman digs borewell using Gruhalakshmi scheme's money

A homemaker from Hubballi in Karnataka saved money received under the Gruhalakshmi scheme and used it to drill a borewell on her rain-fed farmland in Kalghatgi taluk. The borewell struck a strong water source, giving the family hope for irrigated farming. Despite taking a loan for motor installation, the family remains confident about improving cultivation and increasing farm income.
