Hip-swiveling toy 'Hula-Hoop' was patented by one of its inventors, Arthur "Spud" Melin, on March 5, 1963. Melin along with Richard Knerr had created the toy in 1958 in their company named Wham-O, which first marketed the Hula-Hoop in America. As per reports, a total of 25 million Hula-Hoops were sold in its first four months of production.
