Hundreds more evacuated as wildfires spread in France

Hundreds more people were evacuated from their homes as wildfires continued to spread in southwestern France, authorities said on Friday. Since Tuesday, more than 1,000 firefighters supported by nine water-bomber planes have been battling to contain two wildfires fanned by scorching heat, tinder-box conditions and strong winds. The wildfires have burnt around 7,300 hectares of land so far.
