Hyderabad's 81-ft eco-friendly Durga idol draws 50,000 devotees daily
An 81-foot Durga idol made from grass, mud, and water-based paints is drawing 40,000–50,000 devotees daily during Navratri in Hyderabad. Organised by Gulab Srinivas, now in its 27th year, the idol is designed to dissolve completely on-site during immersion on October 23, avoiding pollution. Twenty-eight Kolkata artists spent two months building it.
