US President Donald Trump criticised political opponents for trying to link him to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Trump asserted that he was "the only one" who cut ties with Epstein "long before it became fashionable to do so". He accused unnamed "sleazebags" of socialising with Epstein, visiting his private island and funding him, before distancing themselves once investigations began.
