I don't take GDP seriously: Abhijit Banerjee

Nobel Laureate Abhijit Banerjee said he distrusts GDP because he knows 'what goes into that sausage'. India's huge informal sector is not measured yearly but estimated from a model built every five years, he said, so growth figures down to the decimal are 'squishy'. India has clearly got richer, he added, but 'how much exactly' is unreliable.
