IAF begins 6th-gen fighter study to replace Su-30MKIs by 2040
The Indian Air Force (IAF) has begun preliminary studies for a 6th-generation fighter to succeed its Su-30MKI fleet, even as the AMCA project remains a priority. Requirements for the new jet are planned by early 2030, with a prototype targeted by 2040, aiming for significantly enhanced range and payload capabilities to maintain future air superiority.
