IAF personnel loses ₹2 lakh in fake medical app scam

An IAF personnel posted at Chandigarh lost ₹2.32 lakh after downloading a fake appointment-booking app via a WhatsApp link. While travelling to Jaipur on October 17, he was called by fraudsters posing as hospital staff, asked to pay ₹5 via the app, which then triggered unauthorised transactions across his SBI, HDFC, ICICI, and IDFC accounts.
