IAF Wing Commander Abhinandan, who shot down Pak jet, promoted to Group Captain rank

IAF Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, who downed a Pakistan jet during an aerial combat in February 2019 and was held captive for three days, has been promoted to the rank of Group Captain. In 2019, Abhinandan was honoured with Vir Chakra, India's third-highest war time gallantry medal. The fighter pilot is currently posted in the North-East.
