IAS officer suspended over financial irregularities in Assam

The Assam government suspended IAS officer Sewali Devi Sharma, Secretary of the Agriculture Department, over financial irregularities on Saturday. As Executive Chairman cum Director of the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), she opened five bank accounts without following rules. An inquiry found credible references to the misappropriation of funds, the government said.
