ICAR-IARI develops 40-minute color test for melon fly detection

Researchers from ICAR-IARI have developed a visual LAMP assay that detects the devastating melon fly in under 40 minutes. Using a simple color change from pink to yellow, this field-deployable tool identifies larvae or adults without expensive lab equipment. This breakthrough enhances global biosecurity, protects vegetable crops, and reduces the need for broad-spectrum chemical pesticides.
