ICAR-NBFGR discovers new yellow catfish species in Kerala
Researchers at ICAR-National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources have discovered a new species of yellow catfish, Horabagrus obscurus, in Kerala's Chalakudy River. Known for its greenish-brown mottled appearance, shorter barbels, and distinct genetic traits, the species shares its habitat with the endangered Horabagrus nigricollaris. This discovery underscores the region's rich aquatic biodiversity.
