Ice shelf the size Delhi to detach from Doomsday Glacier this year

Thwaites Eastern Ice Shelf, which is roughly the size of Delhi, is likely to detach from Antarctica’s Doomsday Glacier in 2026, scientists warned. The floating shelf acts like a brake, slowing land-based ice from entering the sea. Its breakup could accelerate Thwaites' retreat, adding to long-term sea-level rise risks as glacier alone could raise levels by 2.1 feet over time.
