IIT Delhi issues statement after student dies by suicide, constitutes probe committee

IIT Delhi issued a statement after 31-year-old student Rishikesh Kumar allegedly died by suicide on campus. The institute provided counselling and other treatment support to Kumar, who was battling mental health issues, since March 2026 and also approved his withdrawal request for the July-November semester, it said. It has formed an external inquiry committee to investigate Kumar's tragic death.
