IIT Madras PhD student dies by suicide, third such incident this year

A 32-year-old PhD student of IIT Madras died by suicide, in the third such tragic incident in 2023. The student, identified as Sachin Kumar Jain from West Bengal, was found dead at his rented accommodation in Velachery. A third-year IIT Madras BTech student died by suicide in March, while a second-year research scholar was found dead in February.
