Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, on Thursday expelled 73 students whose CGPAs were lower than 5. It is an unprecedented action for any IIT branch. A declaration signed by parents at the time of admissions had reportedly warned of this action. In 2006, IIT Kharagpur had taken a similar action but had later re-admitted the underperforming students.
