IMA warns against self-medication as H1N1 cases surge
The Indian Medical Association (IMA) on Wednesday urged people to exercise caution and not self-medicate with antibiotics as swine flu or H1N1 cases surge in the country. "H1N1 is a viral illness...antibiotics don't kill viruses," IMA said. The advisory urges people to seek immediate medical attention in case of severe symptoms like difficulty in breathing, chest pain, drowsiness, and seizures.
